Though not quite as dancey as J/S, Javelin's electro-shapes really get the job done.

New Black Keys and Broken Social Scene are killer. Also like the new Dr. Dog. The Morning Benders have an awesomely sweet summer sound. New Crystal Castles, LCD Soundsystem and Radio Dept bring the noise. Also digging new Gorillaz and Reflection Eternal. I've heard a couple tracks off the new Ratatat (LP4) and they sound muey bien. Oh and the new Spoon album continues to impress after many, many listens.
Listening to the new Gaslight Anthem album and it is definitely a nice alternative to my post-lunch coffee. ROCK!
I loves me some xx. Thanks Wentz.
I'm also playing:
- Sleigh Bells, Treats (dance rock)
- Nathaniel Rateliff (low-fi folk)
- Springsteen's Nebraska
- Tallest Man on Earth, The Wild Hunt (folk)
- Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings
Some songs I stumbled over today:

I second Mike's recs for:
- BSS
- Dr. Dog
Free shows Mike should come up for:
- Roots and Talib Kweli, Sun. July 11, Brooklyn
- Pavement, Fri. Sept. 24-25, Central Park (not free, but fun)
Get back to work!
- new lcd album is totally incredible, best of year for me in that legit test-of-time way.
- point everyone to my good friends das racist, what some may call joke rap is actually really intelligent while still being hilarious (free mixtape here: http://stereogum.com/324091/das-racist-shut-up-dude-mixtape/mp3s/)
- way under the radar band that everyone will legitimately love, i can't turn this shit off - fang island's self titled debut LP, summer jam to the extreme. from a review: "Imagine you're 15 years old. You and your best friend have just gotten stoned for the first time, you're laying around his rec room. Your shoes are off, the sun is shining through the windows, you're listening to metal albums. You start to notice that in every song there's that one part: The Awesome Part. The music accelerates, or crescendos, or shifts suddenly, and you look at each other and say, "That. Was. Awesome." Then, because you're stoned, you vow to some day make an album of all awesome parts. Just awesome parts, strung together by mad kickassology scientists into a tapestry of pure ***ing awesomeness! Then you go back to munching on Cheez-Its. Except these five guys from Rhode Island went and did it."
- with klatt on sleigh bells, especially the single "tell 'em." fucking awesome.
yeah sleigh bellz are great, however i really don't like tell em. Rill Rill is my jam. yup. LCD's songs are too freaking long. 9 minutes come on now. who do they think they are Led Zep? although Dance yrself clean is grrreeeatt. also Das racist is the truth, and they are doing pretty well for themselves speaking in terms of reputation and buzz even though they are josh's friends. imagine that! that being said Javelin is right on the fence for me, while I do like their music, sometimes it wierds me out. especially when I play it for people major creep out factor which is good .
How bout some straight-up Japanese chiptune care of YMCK? Take a gander: (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiCE9a-hnHQ) Omodaka is also pretty all right: (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKvC_LIgt8Q&feature=related)
In the "not-so-Asian-fetish" category, definitely ditto Mike. Mumford & Sons has some nice Americana. Reflection Eternal is sweet. What did people think of Drake? Flop or flow?
