Okay, so here's a little something to wet your appetite.
Apostle Islands National Lakeshore--On Lake Superior in Wis. Ranked #2 best Nat'l Park by National Geographic Travel Magazine. 8 hr drive--hiking, maybe some kayaking if we want to spend dough on rentals.

Mammoth Cave National Park- Kentucky. Looks like we can do some backcountry hiking...cave exploring. 6-7 hr. drive.

It's the deepest and the coldest and I'll be damned if that's not enough to win you over. The fact that the religious-right obviously named the friggin' park helped sell me too. Apostle Ils. from July 29-Aug 3 (home for Lolla). Someone's gotta get the poop end of the stick on this. Let's nail it down soon.
