Monsters of Folk, check it out. Big ups to David.
Let's get some music rec's going. 'Twas a year for animal-bands in my book. Grizzly Bear, Department of Eagles, Animal Collective, and Phoenix all steadily paced me through the year (not to mention Fleet Foxes who still frequent the head-phones).

I forgot to mention Dr. Dog too, great pick-up this year.
For a while I've been big on Bon Iver, "For Emma: Forever Ago."
Also this year: The Hold Steady's "Stay Positive." The latest from Sigur Ros (I'm not going to try to spell it).
And, actually, the latest Oasis is not bad either.
Otherwise a steady diet of M Ward, Ray LaMontagne, Mason Jennings, and some of those other bands that you hipster folk already know.
Any reviews of the latest from PJ?
All good stuff here. New PJ is pretty solid. The Fixer gives me Eddie chills.

man i hate hipsters, those non-conformist conformists', with their skinny framed bikes and their skinny jeans to their lumber jack shirts and their cool beanies, their stupid ironic t-shirts to their stupid ironic band names. Their dirty beards to their dirty bar hang outs... fighting against technology and the man, yet they still have the latest i-phone. so all I'm saying is, go blog yourself!
Brooklyn loves your hate. It fuels this (http://www.latfh.com/) fire.
Side note: I've seen the guy who runs this blog do stand-up and he backs up this work by actually having his own funny stuff to say.
I wish GB comments weren't such a bitch to hyperlink in. Make with the copy/paste: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/16/arts/16second.html?scp=1&sq=second%20city&st=cse
Second City turned 50 over the weekend and this NYT write-up uses a few quotes that make it sound cooler than SNL.
Charles don't be a fascist.
The Second City thing had this city a buzzin over the weekend. All the alumns came back for what seemed to be a kick ass show.
Mike, just checked out Dr. Dog. Thanks. Pretty Beatles-ish awesome.
Sorry to be a fascist hipster, but Second City is cooler than SNL.
We just cast two second city actresses for one of our commercials we're recording tomorrow. should be pretty funny.
All you "non-conformist conformists'" out there may be interested in the new Animal Collective EP "Fall Be Kind".
